Harford County Food Bank Farm

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS IN HARFORD COUNTY!

Help us grow

One 50' x 80' section of our field can grow over 6500 pounds of tomatoes! Currently, we grow two sections like this for delivery to the Harford County Food Bank. The cost to grow these tomatoes is roughly $1.50 per pound, or $10,000 per field section. Your donation can help us to expand to more field sections, and grow even more food to be delivered to the food bank!

We’re working hard to scale up, and beating our results year over year. The need is great, but with your help, we can grow top-quality nourishing food for even more people every day. The more we grow, the more pantries we can support, the more people we can feed.

Future plans

On-Farm Food Pantry

The Food Bank Farm will work as a hub for the Harford Food Bank, becoming an on-farm food pantry to bring direct access to farm-grown produce for those in need.

To do this, we have needs to expand our infrastructure to have controlled temperature pantry storage, receiving and distribution space, and a space to host educational events to further impact the community.

Education

Harford Community Action Agency will work with the farm to host classes through their programs , to not only shop locally, but teach families how they can shop for fresh, local items on a budget. This includes but is not limited to hunger prevention, energy assistance, homeless prevention and services, mediation, and support with the Maryland Energy Assistance Program.

Protein

For many families facing food insecurity, accessing nutrient-dense proteins like eggs, pork, and beef can be especially difficult. These foods are often among the most expensive items in a grocery store, placing them out of reach when budgets are already stretched thin. In the near future, we plan to establish protein programs to help those in need receive meat and egg products.

YOU can help us grow food for EVERYONE!

Volunteer on the farm!

Connect with us, and help grow food for those affected by food insecurity.

During the growing season (June, July, & August), you can help weed, harvest, clean, sort, and deliver produce grown at the Food Bank Farm.

We also need help keeping the farm beautiful. You can also serve by helping us weed or assisting to keep the grounds mowed  and maintained.
